Stacey Crothers of Greenwood, Indiana is the winner of the 2013 Indiana FFA Truck Stampede! The drawing was held on FFA Day during the Indiana State Fair.

Twenty FFA chapters participated in the 2013 Truck Stampede and they were able to raise a total of$14,234 for their chapters! These chapters were Greenfield Central, Owen Valley, South Spencer,Angola, Heritage Hills, LaVille, Western Wayne, Southmont, Perry Central, Tippecanoe Valley,Northwood, Western, Rossville, Shenandoah, Delphi, Bellmont, Pike Central, Heritage, South Putnam,and Knightstown. Perry Central FFA is credited for Stacey Crothers’ winning ticket.

The Indiana FFA Foundation was able to raise an additional amount of $35,477, making the grand total raised $49,711!

Karen Nelson Heavin elected to serve as President of the Indiana FFA Foundation. 

TRAFALGAR, Ind. - Karen Nelson Heavin of Greencastle was recently elected to serve a one-year term as President of the Board of Directors for the Indiana FFA Foundation.

Heavin, a highly experienced community leader and effective FFA and agriculture educationchampion, currently serves as the Student Services Coordinator for the Area 30 Career Center,where she teaches career and college development, English ECA remediation and serves as theschool's Career Pathway Coordinator to high school juniors and seniors from Cloverdale,Eminence, Greencastle, North Putnam and South Putnam.

Heavin is a former member of the South Putnam FFA Chapter in District VII, and served as Indiana FFA Association State President in 1991-92. She is a recipient of the Hoosier FarmerDegree and American FFA Degree.

“I am honored to have been selected as President of the Indiana FFA Foundation and am looking forward to my year of service,” Heavin said. “Our board is committed to growingpartnerships in effort to support the students of Indiana’s largest youth organization.”

Besides Heavin’s leadership role with Indiana FFA, she serves as a Warren Township Trustee inPutnam County, Director for the Putnam County Community Foundation Board and Chairmanof the Putnam County Lilly Scholarship Selection Committee.

Heavin is married to Anthony Heavin, M.D. They have two boys, Garrett and Brock. The Heavinsalso operate a 130-acre cattle farm with her father, Darywn Nelson, in Putnam County. She is agraduate of Franklin College.

In addition to Heavin, other newly elected officers were John Bradley, Division Manager for CSX Transportation, and Raylee Honeycutt, Marketing Coordinator for CountryMark, as Vice President and Secretary, respectively. Bryan Webb, Accountant for Damping Technologies, Inc.,was re-elected as Treasurer.

The Indiana FFA Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Indiana FFA Organization, whichprovides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural educationto over 10,000 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 200 localFFA chapters across Indiana.

Congratulations to FFA 2011 Truck Stampede Winner!
INDIANAPOLIS - Mike Stigleman of Richmond, Indiana helped drive up funds to support Indiana FFA.  For three years in a row he has made a donation to the FFA Truck Stampede and the third time is certainly the charm. On Wednesday, November 30 Stigleman picked up his 2011 Chevy Silverado 4x4 Truck from Bill Estes Chevrolet! 

The ticket was obtained from member Devon Lyons of the Shenandoah FFA Chapter.  Congratulations to Devon too, he was Shenandoah's top salesman!  The drawing was held at the FFA S.O.A.R. Camp in Trafalgar on November 19.  The FFA chapters raised close to $45,000 which support local FFA chapter activities and statewide FFA programs. “When they first called I thought it was a prank from my brother and almost hung up!” said Stigleman. “But then I heard Lisa (Chaudion of FFA) mention Devon’s name. I was shocked because then I knew it was legit.”  This is also the third year that Bill Estes has been involved with the Truck Stampede.  “It is a privilege to be involved with the FFA program,” said Bill Estes Truck Sales manager, Michael J. Richardson. “Bill Estes has always been a strong supporter of FFA and he is more than happy to get involved at this ground level.”

Indiana FFA Foundation announces new board officers
Four Indiana FFA Foundation board members accept officer positions for the 2011-2012 fiscal year Trafalgar, IN – The Indiana FFA Foundation announced four new officers have been elected. The elected officers are President  Summer Goldman (Farm Credit Services of Mid-America – Grandview, IN), Vice President Matt Macaluso (Keller Macaluso LLC-Carmel, IN), Secretary Lynn Moore (Innovative Solutions, Carmel, IN) and Treasurer Bryan Webb (Pace American Enterprises, Inc. – Middlebury, IN).

They are a part of an 18-person board who meets quarterly to set policies and the overall direction for foundation as well as assist in garnering funding to support the association.

Foundation Highlights from the Indiana FFA State Convention
The 2010-2011 Fundraising Goal for the Indiana FFA Foundation was $600,000.  It was announced that the Foundation not only reached but exceeded their goal by raising a total of $608,845.05!  

The Indiana FFA Foundation Outstanding Service Award was given to Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Cathy James for their continued support of the Indiana FFA Leadership Center. 

Chapter Donors were recognized with Indian Creek FFA  earning the Top Chapter Donor Award after donating a total of $4,094.40 to the Indiana FFA Foundation. 

It was also announced that Farm Credit Services recently awarded the Indiana FFA Foundation with a $23,000 grant for improvements to the State Officer House.

Trafalgar, IN - Nathan Hitts of Huntingburg, Indiana is enjoying the view as he drives around in his 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Ext. Cab LT. Nathan’s name was drawn on Saturday, November 13th as the winner of the Indiana FFA 2010 Truck Stampede. 

Nathan entered the contest by giving a $5 donation for a ticket that would give him a chance to win the truck provided by Bill Estes Chevrolet. He actually purchased the ticket from Alyssa Terry, who is an FFA member at Springs Valley High School. The Truck Stampede was designed to provide an avenue for local FFA chapters to generate funds and assist the Indiana FFA Foundation. Twenty- seven FFA chapters were involved this year in the second Indiana FFA Truck Stampede.

Over $32,000 was raised for chapters and approximately $8,000 for the Indiana FFA Foundation. Indiana FFA Foundation, Executive Director, Brian Buchanan says “we are very excited about the success of this program and how it generated money for local chapters and the state FFA Foundation. This program was truly a win for everyone involved.” The generated funds support local FFA chapter activities and statewide FFA programs. 

Thank you to all of those who generously contributed to the 2010 Truck Stampede! We are looking forward to another successful event next year and finding another lucky winner through the 2011 Truck Stampede.

Trafalgar, IN – Brenda Perry of Middletown, Indiana is enjoying the view as she drives around in her 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Ext. Cab LT. Brenda’s name was drawn on Saturday, November 14th as the winner of the Indiana FFA 2009 Truck Stampede. Brenda entered the contest by giving a $5 donation for a ticket that would giver her a chance to win the truck provided by Bill Estes Chevrolet. She actually purchased the ticket from her daughter, Breana Perry, who is a first year FFA member at Shenandoah High School. The Truck Stampede was designed to provide an avenue for local FFA chapters to generate funds and assist the Indiana FFA Foundation.

Forty FFA chapters were involved this year in the first Indiana FFA Truck Stampede. Over $42,000 was raised for chapters and $7,000 for the Indiana FFA Foundation. Indiana FFA Foundation Executive Director, Brian Buchanan says, “We are very excited about the success of this new program and how it generated money for local chapters and the state FFA Foundation. This program was truly a win for everyone involved.” The generated funds support local FFA chapter activities and statewide FFA programs. Thank you to all of those who generously contributed to a successful first year Truck Stampede!
